But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand. We are aliens and strangers in your sight, as were all our forefathers. Our days on earth are like a shadow, without hope. O Lord our God, as for all this abundance that we have provided for building your temple for your Holy Name, it comes from your hand, and all of it belongs to you. (1 Chronicles 29:14-16 )
The launch of Project Connect, two weeks ago, presented a plan that will strengthen our vision to be ‘a church in the market place known for its relationships: connecting with God, with our church members and with the community we are called to serve’.
Parish Council acknowledges and gives thanks for the prayer, time and talents of all those who have worked with architects, consultants and relevant authorities to develop the plan to this point. We also give thanks to God for the generous financial donations being pledged to help to fund the project and we commend this to you for prayerful consideration.
To date we have seen new chairs in the Church. Over the next few months new audio – visual equipment will be installed. In addition to the screens in the Church, a new screen will be installed in the Narthex. This is planned as a blessing for the children’s ministry team and the parents of the young children who meet in the Narthex during our 9.30 service. It will enable them to stay connected with the Church service.
Through the week, our Church facilities are currently used by Church led groups, Anglicare and outside groups. A careful plan will be developed to manage the use of our facilities by current groups during this time. With the beginning of the building project on the horizon, Parish Council voted to decline requests for any new function bookings until the completion of the project.
With builders on site, safety concerns are paramount so we pray for understanding and patience from all the regular visitors to our facilities.
The Church Wardens, together with Stewart and Andrea, will meet in April to to begin the work that is necessary to realise our vision for the Vision for the use of Lakeview as a place which is open, inviting, accessible and active. We commend this meeting to you as we acknowledge God’s desire to bring his people into relationship with him, with each other and with his Church.
