Parish Council met this week. This week’s blog is a reflection on part of the discussion from that meeting. Lately, we have been considering what it means to be a ‘Church known for its relationships’ as our vision states. At the Council meeting this week we were discussing how we can better recognise and connect new people to our community, make it easier for people to fit into a group, and allow people to use their gifts to serve. Over the coming weeks and months, you will see more on this as the ideas are fleshed out. Systems and programs help, but at its core, everyone has a part to play as we build relationships with those God has placed with us.
Our plans for redeveloping our site continue to move ahead (slowly). We are working through the stage of gaining approval from the Gold Coast City Council and the Diocese. This process can take some time.
Both of our Sunday services have enjoyed healthy growth over recent years. We are now at the point when we can consider introducing a new service and thinking about how it might look. For many people, Sunday morning is no longer an easy time to come to Church, and so a different day and time would work much better for them. We are working towards introducing a new service on Thursday nights at 6:00 pm. The service time may work for people who already meet at Church on Thursdays, and perhaps for people who may go late night shopping in the Town Centre afterwards. Over the coming weeks, we will be asking for people to serve by meeting at Church at 6:00 pm on Thursdays to pray for this new service in the lead up to it starting.
