A prayer for the year ahead by Eron Perry
Rev’d Eron Perry, rector of Burleigh Heads Anglican Church has written this prayer for us to pray as we begin this year of ministry and mission, brave for the benefit of others:
Loving God, we come before you today with hearts longing for freedom and filled with love for the Burleigh Heads, Palm Beach and Robina/Mermaid Beach communities. We lift up those who are captive, bound by the chains of bondage, mental health struggles, and the grip of addiction. Grant them your merciful touch, Lord, and guide them on the path to recovery and release. Let your light pierce through the darkness of despair, bringing clarity and hope to those blinded by their circumstances.
We pray, dear God, that your love would saturate every corner of Burleigh Heads, Palm Beach and Robina/Mermaid Beach. May it wash over hearts, mend brokenness, and foster unity within our communities. Let your peace be a tangible presence, drawing people together in understanding and compassion. Fill our lives with the joy of knowing you, and empower us to be instruments of your love, radiating your grace to all we encounter.
Holy Spirit, we seek not only immediate solace, but also lasting sustainability. Grant us wisdom to build a future rooted in your unwavering love, a future where your grace and truth thrive for generations to come. Guide our Churches as we discern our path forward. Open our eyes to your vision, equip us with your strength, and lead us in fulfilling your purpose for this beloved community.
Empower us to be a beacon of hope, a haven of healing, and a testament to your enduring love. May Burleigh Heads, Palm Beach and Robina/Mermaid become places where your presence is a tangible reality, where lives are transformed, and where your glory shines brightly for all to see.
In the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour, we pray. Amen.
