Young people these days by Amy Young

This term, both our Youth and Young Adult Groups are working through an Alpha course. Founded by Nicky Gumbel, Alpha is a series of interactive sessions that create a safe and honest space where people can explore life, faith and meaning. This series has been developed in such a way that it is applicable to individuals of all ages, walks of life, and faith backgrounds. It is designed to help create an open space where conversations around some of life’s big questions can be explored. Alpha runs all across Australia, in churches, cafes, homes, prisons and online and no two Alphas are exactly the same.

Our Young Adults group is working through the new Australian edition of the Alpha Film series. We meet at 6:30pm on Mondays in the church foyer to eat, watch videos and chat. And trust me there is a lot of chatting! Each video features interviews with world-famous leaders, inspiring stories and all-new Australian street-interviews. Throughout the series, we will be exploring topics such as: is there more to life than this? How can I make the most of the rest of my life? How can I have faith? and Who is Jesus?

Our Youth Group is working through the Life Essentials series by Alpha Youth. Each week during the school term, our Youth Group and Leaders meet at 5:30 in the Lakeview Building to play some games, watch videos, chat and then head over to the Robina Town Centre for dinner. Life Essentials is a collection of short videos filmed and produced in Australia, designed for teenagers to spark faith conversations with friends. Each episode explores topics around identity, purpose, belonging and faith, featuring student perspectives and expert interviews.

We are so excited to see what conversations are sparked within the young people of our church and wider community as they explore and deepen their faith!
