Craft Fair
Wasn’t it great!
A wonderful sense of community, vibrancy and tangible love was evident in the air at our Craft Market and sausage sizzle last Sunday. It was a great snapshot of our church coming together in an inclusive, cross-generational sharing of a multitude of talents and resources. New connections were made, old connections re-wired and conversation and laughter flowed. A new way of doing community in a Covid-safe environment was embraced by all.
We stepped up and stepped out, bringing Jade’s vision to fruition, in order to bless the people served by the ABM’s Disability Inclusion Project in Kenya. And in doing so we as a community were blessed beyond expectation.
I think back to the days when WWJD wristbands were trending among Christians, and Nike’s “Just do it “ was a new slogan . My teenagers and their mates all wore the WWJD wristbands, and I was that mother who allowed her 11 year old son to pierce his ear and wear a silver Nike Swoosh earring. What was I thinking, or clearly not thinking? (It was short-lived as being a rugby union forward and wearing an earring were not a good fit!)
As followers of Christ, we can choose daily to live, act, react and respond with an awareness of “What would Jesus do“ .
We can choose to “Just do it “, as Jesus said “Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did to me “. (Matthew 25:40).
We can live life with a missional attitude, as in the Micah Mandate:
“What does the Lord require of you
But to do justice,
Love mercy ( kindness)
And to walk humbly with your God? “
I love that our Anglican Church Robina family lives this out in so many different ways, according to their own God-given passions, as we make our presence felt in our community and beyond, for the glory of God .
As we are in the middle of the Season of Creation in this crazy 2021, I leave you with this blessing :
Deep peace of the running waves to you
Deep peace of the flowing air to you
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you
Deep peace of the shining stars to you
Deep peace of the Son of Peace for you
